The thing you must always remember about the American right wing is that they are basically the baddies in a film.

[slightly 'off-topic' but.....see Inside The Meatrix. Thanks To My Friend coffee messiah ]

Check Out This FOX TV video here at The Spenny Post which suggests the NHS creates Muslim Terrorists!
[below/from:]

Read:"Daniel Hannan is a national disgrace.............."

Across the United States poor people who are told what to think by television said President Obama's plan to give them free healthcare could lead to them being treated in a hospital that was not run by the Chicago Mafia.Bill McKay, a retired shitkicker and Fox News analyst, from Kentucky, said: "I would rather replace my own hip using a rusty spoon than wait two months to have it done in a communist hospital, by some coffee-coloured faggot doctor who will then eat my unborn child to celebrate the end of Ramadan."Barbara Hayes, a God-fearer, from Arkansas, added: "Ah see'd some woman from England on the Fox News sayin' her muslim communist doctor would only give her the good medicines if she denounced Jesus. Ah ain't denouncin' Jesus fir nobody, no siree."But Dr Tom Logan, head of public health at the Institute for Studies, said: "The key difference between the United States and Britain is that we treat poor people rather than leaving them to die in a skip."It may take a few weeks or even months, and not everyone is happy about that, but we do at least all agree that it is marginally better than the skip."He added: "Rich people have a thing called 'BUPA'. No-one knows what it stands for, though some people say it sounds as if it might be Indian. But it does mean you get your own room, quick treatment, nice food, and you get fawned over by nurses who were just that bit too sexy for the NHS."Meanwhile Conservative leader David Cameron was forced to defend the NHS after Tory MEP Daniel Hannan's ego told Fox News that Britain's health system was 'worse than a lifetime of anal warts'.A Conservative spokesman said: "We're not really sure what Daniel Hannan's problem is with the NHS. Perhaps they were unable to save his hair."Stephen Malley, professor of American History at Reading University, added: "To be fair to Fox News and the Republicans, they do have a principled objection to socialised medicine based largely on the fact that a black man won the election."The thing you must always remember about the American right wing is that they are basically the baddies in a film."

Thanks for this, Tony. I just love reading or hearing other countries comments and views of our US events. Sometimes we get so boggled in the mire that to see with fresh eyes is refreshing. Sheesh. Can you believe all this controversy for wanting to keep people healthy?

Love to see your take on the issue---one thing i can guarantee; the bill will never pass the first time around anyway. Hilarious stuff.

It seems like health care is one of those issues which illustrates the scale of the divide between Europe and America. At first I was shocked by some of the opinions which were coming from Americans who didn't seem to be on the hard-right. Now I tend to think "good luck to you and your divisive, expensive, profit-motivated system". If we can't persuade the majority of Americans to back a fair and efficient public health service, so be it : but let us make damned sure we keep that American system out of the UK. The real fight will occur if - and god help us when - the Tories return to power.

yes Alan, one good thing is if it puts the focus on The Tories .

It appears those that watch fox and are too ignorant to look for information in other places will never accept anything here in the usa except for "white" leaders. Forgetting that the mess we are in were set up by those people fighting against everything now.

And, if socialized medicine is so negative, I guess they need to get rid of medicare and such, although they all think that's OK. Weird that so many ignorant and afraid people are around and in this country in particular ; (

Er, I'm just sayin'

The one good thing about all this is it might make the British who moan about the NHS shut up for a bit and recognise how wonderful it is.
And also how it has improved during the present Labour government.

Without the NHS my dad would have been limping around like Long John Silver for most of his life.

Uh, here I go going where I should not again. My hubby's father was sent home early after his heart attack because they needed his bed for someone else, he died the next day. His family blames it on the Canadian health system. And through them we know of more stories of how many people hate their system and if they have money they come down to the states for coverage. So for us we personally do not want the new Obamacare plan. We have great coverage through my husband's job and we pay for it in his benefits package. So we are not sure what will happen with our insurance coverage if the Obama plan passes. It does not sound good. I listen to NBC news and Fox news, Cnn news and CBC and ABC. I like to think that somewhere between them all you will get the truth, but I am also amazed how much spin can be put on the same story to make it go one way or the other. I just wish they would just report the news and not make the news. So I have to say that I am not a fan of the plane that they have now. I think they need to set up panels that are mixed with all the groups and then see what they come up with. You know 3 dems, 3 repubs and 3 indept. Throw in some hospital administrator and then some doctors, pharamacist, researchers and some economists. Then see what kinds of programs that they can come up with and have it written in ways that the average citizen can understand and then let the people vote approval. Like we have propositions out here in CA and then the package need to also pass by 2/3 of the vote.

And as far as I know if you do not have any money for coverage you can go to the free clinics or the emergency room. The people who do not carry insurance are treated this way, because it is against the law to refuse coverage to anyone.

I also worry about if the government takes over and works the same as the VA hospital them we are (just screwed). VA hospitals are the pits. I am a veteran, I know this.

I think that peoples see how the government health care progams that we do have and the big mess, long wait times and since the majority have better insurance than the government will offer and that we could lose it all, even if it is in a few years before we have to change to Obama care I think that most would appreciate keeping what they have. What ain't broke don't fix it. So for the ones who have no health care should be the only ones offered Fedaid program and then they should have to pay a copay like all the rest of us do. How to pay for the rest of this program should be done by all the non-violent criminals doing jobs for the states or feds and instead of paying them all of it they should be paid a dollar a day and then the rest goes towards the insurance program fund. Or do some kind of program like this where it does not increase our taxes. And since no one really knows what kind of program they are trying to pass, then the fear of the unknown will continue to scare these people. I really have not seen anyone with any answers to these questions and so they need to slow down until the questions can be answered to where the people understand what is going on. Until that happens I guess the upset people will continue to be upset. I guess this will be a wait and see thing. And maybe they should lower the bill from 1000 pages to about 100 and then see what goes on.

They all need to step back take a break and then work on it.

I sure do hope we get to keep my husbands heath care plan.

God bless.

I heard the Tories, are distancing themselves from Fox's reports. It could hurt them politically.

The comments on my blog, are a strain at times. I feel you are better served, knowing your opposition's arguments.

I think Obama's plan, will bring windfall profits to private insurers. The young and fit will have private insurance, while the sick will have government care. I think the deals have already been made.

I was trying to think of the name of Stansfield View only the other week when I visited some friends who were staying at Mankinholes Youth Hostel!
(I used to live in the area and My job used to take me there from time to time).
